Making strides
in Memphis, TN

The biggest challenge I face in the underserved African American community of Memphis, is the lack of proactivity to seek proper healthcare. This is due to barriers that stand in their way such as literacy issues, and health and ethnic disparities. I feel this can be helped through education, emphasizing the importance of managing health concerns, and being a visible support within the community. By utilizing resources that are not only ethnic-sensitive, but also within the literacy guidelines, the Community Health Partnership can offer the resources and support that they need to make a difference in their health, their family, and their community.
